day 1
left blr at 0445
cold n pitch dark , but i had a bright headlamp 100/90 widespread, so i had no issues bout darkness
maintained 90 easily all through till kunigal 70kms , n reached at 0540..
stopped 4 a tea n smoke for abhishek , left 2 hassan ,
hassan 2 belur is an amzing road , jus too good ..
reached belur by 9 , had breakfast n then proceeded 2 kottigehaara, the twisties started lil after belur
the road was newly tarred , so couldn resist doin a lil stoppies , the apache is a great stoppie tool , its sexy 4 stunting ,
now 2 the extreme , this bike is an amazing handler in the ghats , beats the apache n pulsar by miles in the handlin department
ridin it , is like playing a game on x box or ps2..
one finger n u can take corners at 80 plus with no fear of stability .. i take a bow to hh on that ..
again , the mileage sucks , even if ridden a km over 80 kmph , it drops crazily , it was giving 32 ish ..
n vibes start after 60 plus ,, the initial is nothin 2 boast about , the midrange n the torque curve is jus amazing ,, it doesn feel like a puny 150 cc at all ..
ok nw bk , then reachd horanadu at 1245 , visited the temple n headed 2 have lunch ,
left horanadu by 230 , shringeri is 75 kms of ghats , non stop twisties .... woweee
reachd shringeri by 415 , visited temple , but was closed , so took butt break , n left 2 agumbe which is 26kms from there
agumbe is the highest place in the western ghats , n is famous 4 the sunset n rainfall.
its said that on a clear day u can see the arabian see from the view point ..
reached AGumbe by 1800 ,
as always , the last 3 days , it was total cloudy , let alone arabian see, i couldn even see the sun oly ,
from there downhill is agumbe ghats which consists of 14 hair pin bends which are steep..
but it was easy 2 take , nothin dangerous ,
then rode 2 perdoor 15kms from manipal , this is where abhisheksood has a house , so we crashed into his place , was 1915 by then ..
this place is 2kms into the forest , n its the oly house around for miles toghether ..
was tired , ate . slept...amazing food that his family had prepared.. lovely ambience ... thanks a million abhi dude ..
day 2
mrugesh n abhi were sleepin as they were tired
i got up at 530 n i was off 2 manipal 2 meet my friend who studies in mit , 2nd day was a total relax kind , went 2 a hangin bridge nearby , then a boat
ride on swarna river , lunch at little chef , n then the beach in the evening or rather night ..
i dint wanna do anythin except make it like a holiday kind ,
n abhi had moved 2 his ancestral home which is bout 15kms away from manipal , in the other direction , ie towards kundapur..
by the time mrugesh n me reachd his place , n crashed 2 bed it was past midnight ...
day 3
this house where we were staying is 150 years old , on the banks of the river , where u can see peacocks ,
trust me , this was the perfect holiday that i could have ever had , mornin 4 breakfast , abhi's mother prepared
NEER dosa which Praveenkm had told me 2 have a million times before i left 4 the ride ..
had loads of them , then left 2 kateel n dharmastala ..kateel we reached by 3 . finishd darshan by 330
dharmasthala opens oly by 7 , on the way my bike started giving pblm , it was getting choked n knocking , so i opened up the carb , cleaned it ,
got better , n again later it occured , later i checkd the plugs , my left plug was the culprit , changed the plug , i always carry a spare 1..
reached dharmastala by 630 , finished darshan n left by 2100 ..
dharmasthala 2 blr is 310kms .. road till the base of sakleshpur ghats .. again, its total darkness .. i mean total , i raised my headlamp beam n increased the spread
distance ..
was feelin sleepy now , cos previous day no proper sleep ..
took a ten min nap , n had energy 2 take the ugly road 2 sakleshpur , 45kms of ghats, covered that in 1 hour 10 mins , pretty good at 12 in the nyt when m sleepy.
stopped at hassan n slept 4 half n hour ..
then reached blr back by 7...
total trip odo -- 1100kms
